I want to help you achieve your goals, in the shortest time possible, getting to the cause of the problem to produce long-lasting positive change. All my work is client-focused and all successful therapy is a working partnership. As each person is unique so is each therapy session tailored to suit the needs of my client.
Having trained as a Yoga teacher in 2013 and through the practice of Meditation and Yoga Nidra I became fascinated with the deeper aspects of the unconscious mind and how it affects everything in our lives. The most effective way to change behaviour for the better is to work with your unconscious mind. According to Freud (1915), the father of psychoanalysis, the unconscious mind is the primary source of human behaviour. Like the analogy of an iceberg, the conscious mind is the tip of the iceberg seen above the water while the most important part of the mind is the part you cannot see, the part that lies beneath the surface and goes very deep.
Everything that has ever happened to us in our lives is stored in the unconscious which influences our feelings, motives and decisions in the present. This part of ourselves is where we hold a lot of core beliefs and experiences that shape our thinking and our lives. This cause and effect can be transformed and when we are ready to make that commitment to ourselves to bring about the change we just need a guiding hand to help us on our way. That is where I come in to help you. My philosophy is to Love Life because life is a journey rich with our own unique human experiences and real transformation begins by knowing our deeper selves and wanting to make that positive change in our lives.
Working with the unconscious mind
Thank you for taking the time to view my site. My name is Deirdre Brady and I work as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, and psychotherapist based in Glasson Athlone Co. Westmeath. I have a first-class Honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an advanced diploma in Hypno-psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis and Hypnotherapy having trained with the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of The European Association of Professional Hypnotherapists (EAPH) and the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP). I am also a qualified teacher of Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness, Yoga Nidra, energy work and sound therapy. I have a holistic mind, body spirit approach to therapy looking at the body as a whole unit which can hold trauma and affect peoples lives. I offer a safe, understanding and confidential relationship with my clients in which to explore and resolve difficult thoughts and emotions. I am an integrative therapist which means I use a variety of techniques including person-centred therapy, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Clients come to see me for lots of different reasons and the common element across the board is the drive for positive change. What they have been doing up to now has not been working and when symptoms are no longer tolerable and are causing major problems in their everyday lives like overthinking, anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, unhappy, and unhealthy habits like drinking too much, overeating, smoking, etc. then its time to take action! The client is usually unaware of deeper issues buried deep in their unconscious minds, which can come from experiences in childhood. The client knows there is a very real problem but doesn’t yet know how to change and this is where I will work with the client to get to the cause of the symptoms and to change dysfunctional thinking and behaviours. In Hypnotherapy and as a psychotherapist I work with your subconscious mind, the deeper part of your mind that has stored everything you know and have experienced. This is done in a safe way as all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and it is a natural phenomenon. Studies show how effective hypnosis can be as a therapy. The client is aware of everything during the session and often brings huge personal awareness for the client. Seeds of positive change are planted in the deeper mind and transformation can be very quick and life-changing. It is a solution-focused therapy usually 1-3 for Suggestion Therapy and 8-12 sessions for Hypno psychotherapy which would be more complex issues like trauma and depression.
I offer a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings in safety. Whatever is troubling you whether it's trauma-related, anxiety, depression, grief or health issues, self-confidence, issues around weight, smoking, or lifestyle change, I am here to guide and facilitate you on your journey. I will support you every step of the way and provide self-empowering life skills, tools, and techniques to achieve optimum emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing.
I hope you will avail of my free consultation where we can discuss what is bothering you and together we will be able to see if hypnotherapy or psychotherapy would be of benefit to you.
